Barton & Guestier Bordeaux Rouge is characterized by its harmonious blend of red and black fruits flavors, such as cherry and plum, blackberry, cassis complemented by subtle hints of spice and oak. This wine is produced in the Bordeaux region of France, known for its prestigious vineyards and a climate conducive to high-quality grape cultivation, primarily featuring Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varieties.
This wine presents an expressive nose of small black fruits such as blackberry and blueberry with delicate roasted cocoa notes. It is fruit driven on the palate, supported by present and well integrated tannins, leading to a long and spice aftertaste.
It was in 1725 that Irishman Thomas Barton settled in Bordeaux to start his company, which is today the city’s oldest winehouse still in activity… His grandson Hugh teamed up with Frenchman Daniel Guestier and in 1802 their partnership became official. From the Chartrons area in the center of Bordeaux, barrels and bottles were loaded on board of ships that sailed via the Garonne river to numerous countries, starting with Ireland, England, Holland and the USA to reach over 130 countries at present.
For optimal enjoyment, serve this wine slightly below room temperature, around 16-18°C (61-65°F). It pairs well with red meats, game, and aged cheeses, making it an excellent choice for barbecues or formal dinners. Consider decanting for 30 minutes to enhance its aroma and flavor profile.
